Acapella ION TW 2-S Plasma Tweeter

The ION tweeter is Acapella’s ionic plasma sound transducer — a high-voltage arc, modulated by the music signal, that excites the surrounding air directly. Because the radiating element is the ionized air itself, the moving mass approaches zero.

Transient response and phase coherence at the top of the audio band are determined by mass. With no membrane to accelerate and decelerate, the ION exposes harmonic detail and transient micro-structure that conventional dome and ribbon tweeters smear over. The lack of mechanical resonances also removes the harmonic distortion typical of cone-based high frequencies.

The unit is sold per pair and integrates into a complete Acapella speaker system or as an upgrade tweeter for compatible designs. Crossover slope and frequency are variable.
