Burmester 159 Signature Line Mono Power Amplifier

The 159 mono power amplifier represents the apex of Burmester’s amplifier program. Seven years of development produced a Signature Line component whose visual language is unmistakable Burmester while the inner architecture pushes power and control to levels the company had never reached before.

Every sound-relevant component is sourced from German manufacturers and was specified to the development team’s brief for this project. Burmester describes the 159 as the most powerful amplifier the company has ever created, and the internal structure refuses to compromise in support of that claim.

To preserve a purist exterior, the control unit hides under an aluminum cover. Sliding it back reveals a control console with a concentric push-lever and a display reporting operating status along with the current damping-factor setting. The damping factor itself is adjustable in 23 steps via a rotary encoder on the rear of the chassis.
